California Institute of Integral Studies hosted an exhibit of SF artist Truong Tran’s newest body of work, Framed Targets, which places gentrification and displacement of low-income populations in a traditionally liberal city front and center. Slow Clap was there to document the show’s progress, up until a few weeks before the opening. We documented Tran’s artistic evolution and interviewed him on the subject at the completion of a year’s worth of creating. The result is a mini-doc that was grabbed and shared by community influencers, journalists, and artists alike. It was, in coordination with Tran’s exhibition, the start of a new dialogue about how artists are seen in San Francisco.
